Tesla's Electric Car 'Model 3' Breaks Sales Records

Tesla vehicle deliveries represent only one measure of the company's financial performance and should not be relied on as an indicator of quarterly financial results, which depend on a variety of factors, including the cost of sales, foreign exchange movements and mix of directly leased vehicles.

Model X production aside, though, Model S deliveries were down 4,952 units from Q4 2015. And this is caused by the limited or shortage of parts for the Model X, the publication adds.

Meanwhile, asserting that Model X production and delivery rates recorded a dramatic improvement after the parts shortages issues were resolved last month, Tesla said that it is on track to deliver 80,000 to 90,000 new vehicles in 2016.

Tesla's Model 3 is set to hit roads in late 2017 - and anyone saving up for or on the fence about buying the company's "most affordable" electric auto yet may be happy to learn that it's surprisingly easy to pre-order.

Tesla said it will learn from the Model X delay to ensure the same mistakes aren't repeated when the Model 3 launches.

Tesla Motors reminded customers Monday that it sells cars other than the Model 3, and that it sometimes has trouble meeting expectations.

During the first quarter-January through March-Tesla said it delivered 12,240 Model S sedans, plus 2,400 Model X crossovers.

Some analysts said the company could have trouble filling all the initial Model 3 orders, which are accompanied by a refundable $1,000 deposit, until 2020. It also says a great deal about the success of the event, wherein Elon Musk managed to stun the audience with a lovely vehicle that also packs riveting performance specifications. The Model 3 is aimed at achieving a 0-60mph timing that below 5 seconds.

If your credit is in rough shape, now is the ideal time to start working on it before you buy your Model 3. Some had suggested Tesla had established itself as a maker of high-end luxury vehicles, therefore its consumer niche would not respond to a cheaper version, or be interested in a mass market Tesla vehicle. "No one at Tesla thought it would be this high before part two of the unveil" which will take place closer to when production starts, he wrote.
